Snow White
During this project I has found it hard to find an original and unique twist on the standard tribal theme. I want to incorporate something different within my images, I am yet to put my finger on what that actually is yet. Although, whilst trolling through hundreds of images on various sites I've found a concept that is a little different to the rest. I love the 'white' take on a tribal theme. Taking traditional tribal elements the designers of the imagery below have incorporated a modern edge. I feel the white used creates a futuristic feel without becoming to high tech and metallic (which I think a lot of 'futuristic ideals come down to). There is still evidence of tribalism through the use of pattern and texture, the white adds an extra dynamic you don't get with more traditionally correct interpretations.
The image below is absolutely stunning. We would never expect huge bushy eye brows to be so beautiful, but the texture and colour of the hairs against the bold shape around the jaw works really well together and she looks as if she could be a part of a new age modern tribe - could this use of heavy untamed brows be the future? Is this part of the brave the world?
The contrast between the dark skin and bright white patterning across the skin in this image is completely captivating. Using bold shapes and lines is simplistic yet extremely effective. Some times I think I try to think to deeply about my designs, but this use of makeup has inspired me to create some more simple designs, without complicating the entire look.
